About the role#
The Respiratory Extern works within our float pool to support respiratory care operations. You will work under the direction of a Respiratory Therapist to assist with patient care and equipment management. This is a part-time, per diem position.
What you'll do#
- Assemble, transport, disinfect, calibrate, and troubleshoot respiratory equipment.
- Maintain appropriate equipment levels across various work areas.
- Assist Respiratory Therapists with procedures and tasks as directed.
- Provide essential assistance and comfort to patients.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Current enrollment in an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
- BLS/CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
- Ability to obtain ACLS and PALS certification prior to graduation.
- Previous experience with assembly and cleaning of respiratory equipment.
- 2nd year Respiratory Therapy students and those with previous healthcare experience are preferred.
