About the role#
The R&D Engineering Internship is a 12-week, paid, full-time position based in Maple Grove, Minnesota. This role is for Summer 2027 and requires you to work on-site. You will join the Interventional business unit to gain hands-on experience by completing engineering tasks alongside the team.
What you'll do#
- Contribute to ongoing engineering projects, such as designing fixtures to improve process consistency.
- Use Solidworks to model fixtures and coordinate the creation of prototypes.
- Create Design of Experiments (DOEs) to test how material changes affect physical properties like tensile strength and torque.
- Evaluate Supplier Initiated Changes (SIC) to commercialized products by assessing impacts on sterility, biocompatibility, and performance.
- Provide R&D support for verification, qualification, and validation studies.
- Assist with root cause analysis and problem solving.
- Collect, process, and analyze data.
- Support cost improvement activities and non-conformance investigations.
- Participate in team meetings, project meetings, and town halls.
- Follow quality procedures and learn the internal documentation system.
- Engage with cross-functional stakeholders while managing multiple projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program in Engineering, including Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, Aerospace, Biomedical, or Environmental Engineering.
- Open to both lower and upperclassmen.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word and Excel.
- Strong verbal communication and technical writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with others.
- A willingness to learn and ask questions.
