About the role#
This is a paid, full-time internship program for Summer 2027 designed to provide a realistic preview of the Executive Team Leader role. You will work on-site at a Target store to learn the fundamentals of retail management. Over the course of the program, you will develop leadership skills by working alongside an Executive Team Lead mentor and other store managers. This role involves active participation in daily operations to understand how to drive business performance and support a team.
What you'll do#
- Lead and support the execution of daily store operations.
- Work alongside your Executive Team Lead mentor to gain an understanding of their responsibilities.
- Ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all guests.
- Provide summaries of results and priorities to your peer and leadership team.
- Deliver an exceptional guest experience by engaging with shoppers and assisting with their needs.
- Spend time on the salesfloor and in the backroom to align the team on daily business priorities.
- Partner with leaders to provide performance feedback and address team member concerns.
- Plan daily goals and organize tasks within the building.
What you'll need#
- Strong interest in retail management.
- Leadership skills and a team-oriented mindset.
- Ability to manage workload and prioritize tasks independently.
- Effective communication skills.
- Previous retail experience is preferred but not required.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Capacity to perform physical tasks, including lifting or moving merchandise up to 44 pounds and climbing ladders.
- Proficiency in learning and adapting to store technology.
- Currently pursuing a degree in fields such as Business Administration, Marketing, Operations Management, Human Resources, Psychology, Communications, Sociology, or Criminal Justice.
