About the role#
Tampa Electric offers a professional development program for students seeking practical experience in the utilities industry. This position reports to the Energy Supply department and involves supporting technical projects that vary in scope and complexity. You will gain hands-on experience by completing work assignments that contribute to our day-to-day business operations.
What you'll do#
- Support technical projects of varying complexity and duration.
- Work with Windows Server and Workstation operating systems.
- Perform administration tasks for VMware or Hyper-V environments.
- Manage system updates and configure task scripting or scheduling.
- Handle IP addressing, subnetting, VLANs, routing, and appliance configuration.
- Conduct vulnerability management, including research, identification, evaluation, and mitigation.
- Create, save, and redeploy system backups.
- Engage with industrial control logic and communication protocols.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ABET accredited university as a Junior, Senior, or Graduate student.
- Pursuing a degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Eligibility for a university co-op program or internship status.
Location & details#
- Location: Gibsonton, Florida.
- Term: Winter 2027.
- Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
- Environment: This role requires working in a combination of office and plant settings, including areas that may be hot, dusty, or noisy.
- Compensation: This is a paid position.
