About the role#
We are looking for a Government Affairs Intern to support the State Governmental Relations Department. You will assist our team with research, analysis, and the coordination of policy initiatives. This position provides an opportunity to apply your academic knowledge to professional projects within the utility industry.
What you'll do#
- Conduct research on legislation, policy initiatives, and relevant issues.
- Prepare white papers, briefing materials, and presentations.
- Attend governmental hearings and meetings to provide summaries and analysis.
- Track public policy issues and legislation.
- Draft correspondence and other written materials.
- Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to reach project goals.
- Participate in State and Regional Affairs meetings.
- Help organize advocacy events.
- Provide administrative support to the Government Affairs team.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an accredited university as an undergraduate or graduate student.
- Junior or Senior status.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Pursuing a degree in Political Science, Public Policy, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of the legislative process.
- Excellent research, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Enrollment in a university co-op program is preferred but not required.

- This is an on-site position located at 106 East College Avenue, Suite 810, Tallahassee, Florida.
- The role is full-time and paid.
- We offer rolling terms with schedule flexibility, typically ranging from 20 to 40 hours per week.
