About the role#
Tallgrass is hiring a Field Intern for Summer 2027. You will work on-site in Carr, Colorado, gaining hands-on experience by working alongside Operations Specialists and Technicians. This full-time, paid internship focuses on the installation, operation, and maintenance of energy infrastructure, including pipelines, compressor stations, and pump stations.
What you'll do#
- Operate and maintain equipment including pipelines, compressors, engines, turbines, motors, pumps, and cooling equipment.
- Perform preventative maintenance checks and assist in the diagnosis and repair of valves, seals, and instruments.
- Handle general upkeep and maintenance of all facilities.
- Learn to design, install, inspect, and calibrate control systems.
- Troubleshoot electrical switchgear and power distribution.
- Participate in safety programs and identify or report environmental concerns.
- Develop maintenance procedures, project scopes, and work plans.
- Assist with documentation and record-keeping.
- Observe analytical testing for engines, compressors, and pumps.
- Install and repair security and intrusion systems.
What you'll need#
- A High School Diploma.
- Current enrollment in or recent completion (within 3 months) of a technical or associate degree program in Mechanics, Energy, Construction, Industrial Electrician, Electromechanical, Measurement, or related electrical fields.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to perform basic repairs using special tools and equipment.
- Ability to collect, organize, and present data accurately.
- Familiarity with or willingness to learn measurement and control equipment.
- Basic understanding of schematics, engineering drawings, and technical reports.
- A strong focus on safe work practices and a commitment to the safety of company assets and personnel.
- Ability to take direction, follow work rules, and maintain a consistent schedule.

- Physical requirements: Must be able to work outdoors in adverse weather, work from elevated platforms or ladders, and carry up to 50 pounds.
