About the role#
As a Field Intern, you will work alongside Operations Specialists and Technicians to gain hands-on experience in the energy infrastructure sector. This is a temporary, full-time, on-site position based in Kearney, Nebraska. The program runs for 10 weeks between May and August 2026.
What you'll do#
- Operate and maintain essential equipment including pipelines, compressors, engines, turbines, motors, pumps, and dehydration units.
- Perform preventative maintenance checks and support the diagnosis and repair of valves, seals, and instruments.
- Handle general upkeep and maintenance of all facilities.
- Learn about electrical, measurement, and control integrity, including the installation, calibration, and troubleshooting of control systems.
- Develop Operations and Maintenance Procedures, site-specific plans, and project scopes.
- Participate in safety programs, documentation, and record-keeping.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma.
- Current enrollment in or recent completion (within 3 months) of a relevant technical or associate degree program, such as Mechanics, Energy, Construction, Industrial Electrician, Electromechanical, or Measurement.
- Experience with MS Office applications including Excel, Word, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to perform basic repairs and maintenance using special tools.
- Capacity to collect, organize, and interpret data accurately.
- Understanding of schematics, engineering drawings, and technical reports.
- Strong focus on safe work practices.
- Ability to work outdoors, on elevated platforms or ladders, and in adverse weather conditions.
- Ability to carry up to 50 pounds.
