The Communications Intern works with the Communications Department to support the Studio Museum’s mission and outreach. This role provides insight into institutional voice, communications strategy, and media relations. Interns participate in a series of meetings and workshops focused on contemporary museology while collaborating on projects with museum staff. This position is open to undergraduate students, graduate students, or recent graduates interested in arts communications, media studies, social marketing, or design.
What you'll do#
- Assist with drafting copy for administrative, programming, and exhibition needs.
- Perform administrative tasks to maintain the department’s records.
- Learn about institutional voice and communications strategy.
- Participate in departmental meetings and professional workshops.
What you'll need#
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Superb attention to detail and high level of organization.
- Familiarity with social media and online email marketing tools.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop) and Microsoft 365.
- Ability to work independently.
Location & details#
- Location: New York, New York (On-site).
- Term: Fall 2026 (September 14, 2026 – December 18, 2026).
- Commitment: 20 hours per week, Monday through Friday. In-person attendance is required three days per week, with Tuesdays being mandatory.
- Compensation: $5,040 stipend.
- Eligibility: Must be authorized to work in the United States.
