About the role#
The Operations Internship Program provides hands-on experience in the daily functions of a commercial nuclear power plant. You will gain exposure to power plant operations, safety protocols, and system management while supporting the production of electricity.
What you'll do#
- Monitor plant systems and processes to help maintain safe and efficient operations.
- Collect and analyze data to support plant performance optimization.
- Prepare and review operational logs to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Support the implementation of safety and quality assurance procedures.
- Observe and participate in the maintenance of plant systems.
- Identify potential improvements in operations and safety practices.
- Help prepare for scheduled maintenance outages and system testing.
- Assist with troubleshooting operational issues to keep equipment within designated parameters.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a 2-year or 4-year institution.
- Pursuing a degree in Nuclear Technology, Engineering Technology, Engineering, or related sciences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Good academic standing.
- A valid U.S. Driver's License.
- Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access to the South Texas Project Electric Generating Station.
