About the role#
The Engineering Internship Program offers students practical experience within the commercial nuclear power industry. You will work alongside experienced professionals on projects that support plant safety, reliability, and performance. Interns receive mentorship and gain exposure to plant systems, processes, and cross-functional teams.
What you'll do#
- Collect, evaluate, and analyze technical data to present findings and recommendations.
- Prepare and review engineering documentation such as calculations, specifications, drawings, and design change packages.
- Review industry operating experience, technical documentation, and event reports.
- Support the implementation of engineering processes, tools, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide technical support to engineering and other plant organizations.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Maintenance, and other departments.
- Communicate technical information through written reports, presentations, and discussions.
- Participate in program activities, professional development, and project presentations.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and safety requirements.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited four-year college or university.
- Pursuit of a bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Nuclear, or another applicable engineering discipline.
- Good academic standing.
- Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access to the South Texas Project Electric Generating Station.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Capacity to manage assignments, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
- U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency.
