About the role#
Stantec is seeking an Engineering or Planning student to support a variety of transportation planning and traffic engineering projects. This role involves hands-on experience across all phases of project execution, including planning and design. You will work alongside experienced practitioners to develop technical competencies in the transportation field.
What you'll do#
- Collect and analyze transportation data, including traffic counts, collision records, and transit information.
- Conduct traffic operations and safety analysis, such as intersection performance reviews.
- Support traffic engineering tasks including sightline assessments, capacity analysis, signal timing reviews, and layout assessments.
- Contribute to transportation planning and impact assessment projects.
- Prepare figures, maps, and graphics using GIS and other visualization tools.
- Participate in field visits to document site characteristics and support data collection.
- Assist with general project support, including coordination, scheduling, and proposal preparation.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Bachelors or Masters program for Engineering or Urban Planning.
- Enrollment in a co-op or equivalent post-secondary program.
- Availability for a 4-month internship.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time to meet deadlines.
- A detail-oriented and proactive approach.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

- Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
- Term: Winter 2027.
- Modality: On-site.
- This is a paid, full-time position.
- Work environment includes a typical office setting with sedentary computer work and field visits that may involve exposure to various weather conditions.
