About the role#
Stantec is hiring a Renewable Energy Civil Intern for the Summer 2027 term. You will join our Community Development Group in Minneapolis to work on projects that include urban planning, roadways, infrastructure design, and storm water management. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position.
What you'll do#
- Complete the civil component of various projects using technical and communication skills.
- Inspect construction sites to ensure compliance with project documents and engineering principles.
- Assist with the preparation of plans, specifications, reports, and other project deliverables.
- Draft and design using CAD software to help prepare construction documents.
- Procure permits and approvals from various agencies.
- Attend project meetings and write detailed reports.
- Coordinate with construction staff, engineering teams, clients, and other stakeholders.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited bachelor’s degree program in civil engineering, structural engineering, architecture, environmental engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks or priorities.
- A valid driver’s license, a good driving record, and access to a vehicle.
- Coursework or exposure to planning, design, surveying, hydrology, or infrastructure is preferred.
