About the role#
Stantec is looking for a Civil Engineering Intern or Co-op to join the Community Development team in Boston. You will work under the guidance of senior engineers and designers on a variety of local and national projects, ranging from residential and commercial developments to institutional and recreational sites. This is a full-time, paid position for the Winter 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Assist engineers in the preparation of contract documents.
- Support project teams in the development of design documentation, plans, and reports.
- Perform calculations to analyze and design civil system components using company and manufacturer software.
- Handle design and drafting tasks, including the review of drawings and calculations.
- Conduct field inspections, which may involve working in various weather conditions.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in civil engineering or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exposure to AutoCAD design programs.
- Coursework or experience in areas such as planning, grading design, utility infrastructure, stormwater management, or construction management.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A collaborative mindset and a motivation to develop technical skills.

- This role is based on-site in Boston, Massachusetts.
- You will work in a typical office environment with some field work required.
