About the role#
This is a full-time internship for Summer 2027 based in Bremen, Indiana. You will work on a Mission Control project focused on wire manufacturing processes. The goal is to improve efficiency and throughput using Lean Manufacturing principles. You will manage your own project timeline, provide regular progress updates, and present your final results to senior leadership at the end of the summer.
What you'll do#
- Identify and analyze primary bottleneck processes to increase throughput and reduce downtime.
- Improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) and minimize work-in-process inventory.
- Analyze data regarding cycle times, OEE percentages, and downtime causes.
- Collaborate with production supervisors, operators, maintenance staff, and the Continuous Improvement Manager.
- Participate in the DHP process and assist in developing a Value Stream Map.
- Create and communicate work instructions for implemented improvements.
- Conduct cost-benefit analyses for proposed solutions and support their implementation.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in engineering, science, business, or a related field.
- A minimum 2.5 GPA.
- Strong planning and analytical skills.
- Experience in systems thinking and process management.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Proven ability to work well in a team environment.
- Reliable transportation.
- Experience with data analysis and Lean Six Sigma is preferred.
