About the role#
The Southwest Florida Water Management District is looking for a student intern to join the Environmental Resource Permit Bureau in Tampa. This role provides hands-on experience in water-resource permitting and compliance. You will work with engineers to monitor reports, manage files, and conduct field inspections. This is a paid position with an hourly rate of $16.00.
What you'll do#
- Research and organize files of record.
- Assist engineers with monitoring application and compliance tracking reports.
- Review applications and post-permitting submittals for compliance.
- Generate correspondence related to permit evaluations.
- Conduct site visits to document compliance status, which may involve working in wetlands, marshes, or near open water.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Current enrollment in an accredited college, university, or vocational program.
- A minimum GPA of 2.5 for undergraduates or 3.0 for graduate students.
- A valid driver's license.
- Preferred degrees include Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering.
Location & details#
- Location: Tampa, Florida.
- Schedule: Part-time, up to 25 hours per week, Monday to Friday between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.
- Work environment: Split between office tasks and field work, with up to 8 hours of field work per week.
- Note: This position does not offer medical benefits and the District does not provide visa sponsorship.
