About the role#
Learn To Be is a nonprofit that provides free 1-on-1 online tutoring to K-12 students from under-resourced communities. As an Operations Assistant, you will work with the Operations team to ensure students are paired with tutors efficiently. You will identify why a student is waiting for a tutor and take action to resolve the issue. This role is ideal for someone who prefers to figure things out independently and cares about providing equitable educational opportunities.
What you'll do#
- Monitor the list of students waiting for a tutor, prioritizing those from partner organizations.
- Investigate why a student has not been paired, such as subject availability or unresponsive families, and resolve the roadblock.
- Communicate with families and tutors through phone, email, and text to finalize pairings.
- Use AI tools like ChatGPT and Claude to draft messages, organize data, and build small tools to improve workflows.
- Identify broken processes and collaborate with the Operations team to fix them.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an SNHU degree program.
- A work study award as part of your financial aid package.
- Ability to work 15-20 hours per week reliably, including during midterms and finals.
- Proven experience using AI tools like ChatGPT or Claude to build projects, such as apps, automations, or custom workflows.
- Clear, friendly written communication skills and comfort making phone calls to parents and volunteers.
- Access to a reliable device with internet and a working webcam.
- Consent to a DOJ Dru Sjodin Sex Offender Database background check.
- Speaking Spanish is a plus.

- This is a remote position available to students residing in specific states including Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
- Compensation is $13.00 - $15.00 per hour, based on qualifications and experience.
- Hours are 15-20 per week on a consistent schedule, with a preference for late afternoon and evening availability.
