About the role#
Solid Power is seeking a Materials Engineering Intern to support the development of all-solid-state battery technology. You will work alongside engineers and scientists to conduct experimental research and process optimization. This role provides hands-on experience in materials development within the renewable energy semiconductor manufacturing industry.
What you'll do#
- Support and execute experimental plans to optimize sulfide solid-state electrolytes.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret experimental data.
- Perform polymer processing tasks including slurry preparation, mixing, casting, coating, drying, and material handling.
- Document process conditions and results to assist in scale-up efforts.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized laboratory environment.
- Safely handle hazardous materials and laboratory equipment according to established procedures.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Polymer Science, or a related field.
- Knowledge of materials characterization techniques.
- Understanding of safe handling practices for hazardous materials and laboratory equipment.
- Familiarity with polymer or wet-chemical processing methods such as mixing, slurry preparation, casting, or drying is preferred.
- Experience with synthetic chemistry is a plus.
- Knowledge of lithium-ion battery materials and synthesis methods is preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and wear required personal protective equipment including safety glasses, respirators, or coveralls.
Location & details#
- Location: Louisville, Colorado.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $25 per hour.
- Schedule: 10-20 hours per week during the fall semester.
- Employment Status: Paid, part-time, rolling term.
- Note: This position is subject to export control restrictions and requires government authorization for access to certain technology. Sponsorship for work visas is not available.
