About the role#
MetOx International is seeking a Process Engineering Intern for the Summer 2026 term. Based at our headquarters in Houston, Texas, this full-time, on-site position offers hands-on experience with manufacturing processes, data analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives. You will work alongside engineers on critical projects to support the production of superconducting technology.
What you'll do#
- Operate characterization tools such as SEM, EDX, Optical Microscopy, and XRD for defect identification and sample preparation.
- Provide hands-on support to process engineers by executing Department of Energy (DOE) protocols and documenting results.
- Perform statistical data analysis on collected information and support root cause analysis.
- Write and publish Failure Analysis (FA) reports, technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and work instructions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, and maintenance, to support ongoing projects and resolve technical issues.
- Assist operations with disposition decisions, process changes, and sample collection.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Previous internship or co-op experience in a process or manufacturing engineering role.
- Experience with characterization tools like SEM, EDX, Optical Microscopy, and XRD.
- Familiarity with statistical analysis tools such as JMP or Minitab.
- A basic understanding of process engineering principles, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret technical information effectively.
