About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in community mental health care at the Residential Crisis program. You will work directly with adults managing severe mental illness as they receive psychiatric stabilization services. This role focuses on building practical skills in case management, treatment planning, and crisis intervention while providing support to the clinical team.
What you'll do#
- Work directly with individuals receiving psychiatric stabilization services.
- Support case managers and direct-care staff with daily operations.
- Assist in providing stabilization services and discharge planning.
- Facilitate therapeutic groups alongside experienced staff.
- Engage in crisis intervention and treatment planning processes.
What you'll need#
- Current undergraduate enrollment at Towson University.
- Major in psychology or a related human services pathway.
- Ability to adapt to the needs of a crisis setting.
- High levels of patience and compassion when working with the patient population.
- A proactive approach to learning and self-directed development.
