About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in a residential crisis setting at the Towson Hospital. Interns work with adults experiencing severe mental illness who are receiving psychiatric stabilization services. The program focuses on building practical skills in community mental health care through direct engagement with individuals and staff.
What you'll do#
- Work directly with individuals receiving stabilization services.
- Support case managers and direct-care staff in daily operations.
- Assist with treatment planning, crisis intervention, and discharge planning.
- Facilitate therapeutic groups alongside professional staff.
- Engage in self-directed learning and seek feedback from supervisors.
What you'll need#
- Current undergraduate enrollment at Towson University.
- Major in psychology or a related human services field.
- Ability to adapt to changing situations in a crisis environment.
- Demonstrated patience and compassion when working with individuals in recovery.
- Willingness to learn and engage with the program team.
