Operational Excellence Summer 2026 Intern (Mt. Vernon, Missouri)

About the role#

Schreiber Foods is seeking engineering students for a paid, full-time Operational Excellence internship during the Summer of 2026. Based in Mt. Vernon, Missouri, this role provides hands-on experience in a food manufacturing environment. Interns will work alongside skilled engineers on projects that directly impact plant operations and participate in a structured program featuring professional development, networking events, and executive speakers.

What you'll do#

• Focus on the optimization of manufacturing processes.
• Work on process improvements related to efficiency, productivity, process capability, risk mitigation, and cost reduction.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement efficient manufacturing workflows.
• Take ownership of assignments and complete them accurately and on time.

What you'll need#

• Completed sophomore-level status or higher toward a BS degree in an Engineering or Engineering Technology program. Preferred disciplines include Electrical, Automation, Mechanical, Chemical, Engineering Physics, or Manufacturing.
• Current enrollment as a student during the time of the internship.
• Ability to work 40 hours per week for a minimum of 10 weeks during the summer of 2026.
• Willingness to relocate for the duration of the internship.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and auto insurance.

• Compensation: $22.00 per hour.
• Relocation assistance is provided for those moving 50 miles or more.
