About the role#
Discovery Co-op is seeking an HR Co-op Student to join the People & Culture team at our administration office in North Battleford. This is a temporary, full-time position for the Winter 2027 term, lasting 4 to 8 months depending on your program requirements. You will report to the VP of People & Culture and gain hands-on exposure to human resources operations and initiatives.
What you'll do#
- Lead and support recruitment, onboarding, orientation, pre-boarding, and offboarding activities.
- Coordinate recruitment efforts, event support, and various employee programs.
- Provide administrative support for People & Culture programs, including maintaining employee records, tracking training and certifications, and preparing HR documentation.
- Support employee engagement initiatives, such as wellness programs, recognition events, and team leader action planning.
- Contribute to HR projects and process improvements, including the transition to electronic personnel files and records management.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a Human Resources, Business, or Commerce Co-operative Work Experience Program.
- A valid Class 5 Driver's License.
- Availability to work Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm.
- Willingness to relocate to the Battlefords.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), social media platforms, and Canva.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- A motivated, adaptable mindset with a focus on customer service.
- Previous co-operative retail experience is an asset.
