About the role#
This co-op position is within the Virology Platform of the Global Antigen Design department. You will support the development of vaccine candidates from early prototype optimization through IND-enabling activities. The role focuses on characterizing vaccine candidates targeting respiratory pathogens, such as influenza, RSV, hMPV, and COVID. You will work with a team of experts to advance vaccine research and gain experience in virological, immunological, and molecular techniques.
What you'll do#
- Complete laboratory research tasks under supervision with high productivity and consistency.
- Contribute to the development of next generation vaccines.
- Maintain and update experiment notebooks according to QA requirements.
- Participate in lab and equipment maintenance, including re-stocking supplies.
- Attend group meetings and present data to the team.
- Learn about virology and vaccinology through literature and team interaction.
- Apply techniques such as cell culture, virus propagation, infectious titer assays, virus neutralization assays, RT-PCR, and genome sequencing.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Master’s or PhD degree in Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or related life sciences.
- Enrollment in an accredited college or university throughout the duration of the co-op.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, at the office location.
- Permanent authorization to work in the U.S. without the need for visa sponsorship.
- R&D experience from lab courses or other relevant work.
- Knowledge of molecular cloning, mammalian cell culture, aseptic technique, and biosafety cabinet operations.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work both independently and within a team.
