About the role#
This co-op position focuses on regenerative medicine research within our laboratory. You will join our team to work on projects related to cell-based and tissue-based products for treating lung diseases. This role provides hands-on experience in research and development, allowing you to contribute to scientific discoveries while working alongside our staff.
What you'll do#
- Conduct and assist in research and development efforts for cell- and tissue-based products.
- Complete a focused research project tailored to your background and team needs.
- Generate data to answer specific research questions and document your findings in summary reports.
- Present your data to management, team leaders, and research staff during internal review meetings.
- Deliver a final presentation of your project findings.
- Use in vitro tools to investigate primary lung cells.
- Analyze transcriptomic data from lung cells and recellularized lung tissue.
- Perform advanced imaging studies to visualize lung microvasculature.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a master’s or PhD program in biology, biomedical sciences, engineering, or a related field.
- Availability to work 40 hours per week onsite.
- Relevant laboratory experience and coursework.
- At least 2 years of experience in cell culture.
- Proficiency with standard office software.
- Experience with cell-based in vitro assays and cell analytical assays.
- Experience with tissue handling and manipulation.
- Experience with fluorescence microscopy, confocal microscopy, micro-CT, or other 3D imaging techniques.
- Experience with large data analysis.
- Knowledge of lung biology or physiology.

- This position is based in RTP, North Carolina.
- The role is 100% on-site.
- The term runs from January 2027 through June 2027.
