About the role#
Samtec Inc is seeking a Chemical Engineering or Chemistry student to join our team as a Co-Op. You will work alongside our Plating Lab, Process Engineering, and Materials Innovation groups. This position offers exposure to laboratory testing, electroplating techniques, and research into new plating methods. You will learn our specific electroplating processes while assisting with daily operations and research projects.
What you'll do#
- Perform analytical procedures such as UV-Vis and ICP-OES to monitor and maintain electroplating baths.
- Run quality checks including gold usage and porosity analyses.
- Investigate internal and customer quality issues.
- Troubleshoot problems on the plating line.
- Conduct electrochemical experiments and assist with R&D projects for new metal plating methodologies.
- Record and update plating process parameters within our internal systems.
- Maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Effective time management skills with the capacity to handle multiple projects.
- Ability to work well within a team and collaborate across different areas.

- This role is based on-site in New Albany, Indiana.
- This is a paid, full-time co-op position with a rolling term.
