About the role#
The St. Margaret's House Fellow supports the daily operations of a day center serving women and children living in economic poverty. This position coordinates volunteers from Saint Mary's College, facilitates reflection sessions, and ensures the center maintains a welcoming environment. The role requires a commitment to trauma-informed care and cultural humility when engaging with guests and community partners.
What you'll do#
- Serve as a Beyond the Belle Site Leader, managing and supervising a weekly team of students.
- Coordinate logistical details for your team and the center.
- Act as an approved driver to transport groups to the site each week.
- Facilitate weekly team reflections, as well as sessions during Orientation and Closing.
- Attend weekly Site Leader meetings and initial training.
- Assist with daily operations, including kitchen setup and cleanup, maintaining order on the main floor, and organizing in-kind donations.
- Provide supervision for children during programming as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at Saint Mary's College with eligibility for Federal Work Study or Community Service.
- Valid driver's license and comfort driving groups.
- Ability to lift 40 lbs. and remain on your feet for extended periods.
- Experience working with diverse populations using a spirit of cultural humility.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to lead group conversations.
- Commitment to learning and practicing trauma-informed care.
- Majors in Sociology, Psychology, Human Resources, or Public Health are preferred.
