About the role#
The Student Technologist in the Huisking Instructional Technology Resource Center (ITRC) supports faculty, staff, and students with classroom technology and software. This role involves maintaining equipment, providing training, and ensuring digital accessibility across campus. This position is open to Saint Mary's students only, and team members must arrive on campus one week early for training.
What you'll do#
- Assist faculty and students with the use of instructional technology and software.
- Respond to campus calls for technology assistance and troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Document technical issues and the solutions applied.
- Install, remove, and perform routine maintenance on classroom technology.
- Provide training on software, digital accessibility, and equipment operation.
- Manage the loaning of equipment, including verifying the condition of items upon checkout and return.
- Support course building, link checking, and testing new tools in Blackboard.
- Edit captions and test video tools like Kaltura.
- Assist with digital accessibility projects and general technology tasks.
What you'll need#
- Knowledge of computer technologies, including projectors, monitors, webcams, and microphones.
- A basic understanding of instructional technology.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues effectively.
- Strong team collaboration skills.
- Familiarity with tools such as Crestron panels, document cameras, web conferencing applications, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office.
