About the role#
The Local Cup Fellow supports the operations of a community-run coffee shop in the Near Northwest Neighborhood of South Bend. This role focuses on maintaining a pay-it-forward service model while providing mentorship to teen interns. This is a paid position for Saint Mary's College students eligible for Federal Work Study or Community Service.
What you'll do#
- Learn and execute all coffee shop operations, including opening, closing, cleanup, and drink preparation.
- Explain the mission and pay-it-forward system to customers to foster a welcoming environment.
- Supervise and mentor 1-2 teen interns, including working alongside them behind the counter.
- Attend weekly Site Leader meetings, bi-weekly teen leadership training, and initial Site Leader training.
- Ensure compliance with all health codes.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at Saint Mary's College with eligibility for Federal Work Study or Community Service.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and a mature, enthusiastic attitude.
- Ability to lead others, work independently, and stay focused in a busy environment.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Reliable access to transportation via car or bicycle.
- Preferred majors include Communications, Business Administration, or Psychology.

- Schedule: Mornings on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
