About the role#
Sagent Behavioral Health is seeking a School Based Therapy Intern for the Fall 2026 term. This position is based in Ankeny, Iowa, and requires on-site work. You will join our team to support children, adolescents, and their families within a school environment. This is a paid internship that includes a monthly stipend of $1,000.
What you'll do#
- Provide culturally responsive mental health support to students and their families.
- Help clients identify and reach goals for functional improvement.
- Design and implement treatment plans and interventions tailored to the needs of each child.
- Complete comprehensive diagnostic assessments and person-centered treatment plans.
- Collaborate with school district personnel and community-based agencies.
- Design and lead therapeutic groups for students.
- Provide psychoeducation to school staff members.
- Participate in clinical staff meetings, weekly supervision, and training sessions.
What you'll need#
- You must be currently pursuing a master's degree in social work, counseling, or psychology.
- You must be completing a formal practicum or internship through your graduate program.
- Previous work or volunteer experience in behavioral health is preferred.
- Ability to demonstrate professionalism and integrity in a clinical setting.
