About the role#
As a Structures Intern at Pratt & Whitney, you will work with an experienced mentor to provide analytical support for compressor airfoils and cases. This role spans the full product lifecycle, including design phases, development testing, certification, production, and field support. You will join cross-discipline integrated product teams to develop solutions that balance performance, cost, and weight while ensuring structural durability.
What you'll do#
- Perform ANSYS finite element analysis for stress, vibration, mission low cycle fatigue life, and residual life prediction.
- Reduce engine test strain gage data.
- Investigate production and in-service field issues.
- Create and present documentation of analytical solutions to internal teams.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
- Minimum of 60 credit hours completed by the start of the internship.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Active enrollment through the completion of the internship.
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Completed coursework in Strength of Materials, Materials Science, and Finite Element Analysis.
- Experience with solid modeling, finite element modeling, and computer programming languages such as Perl, VBA, Python, or Matlab.
- Familiarity with optimization, statistics, and manufacturing methods.
- Prior experience with RTX internships, co-ops, or work is preferred.
