About the role#
The Tactical, Communications, and Maintenance Applications (TCMA) team in Huntsville, Alabama, is seeking a Software Engineering Intern for Summer 2027. You will join a team focused on avionics solutions for fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft, including the integration of radios and surveillance equipment for military customers. This is a part-time, on-site role where you will work on complex programs within an Agile framework.
What you'll do#
- Design, implement, and evaluate software using Ada, C++, and Python.
- Carry out multidisciplinary research and collaborate with engineers on the development of military technology.
- Execute software requirements, design, integration, and verification according to established development processes.
- Perform multiple tasks independently with guidance from a mentor.
- Contribute to team decisions and help maintain a positive work environment.
- Manage your tasks to meet program schedules.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree program in a STEM field, continuing through the end of the internship.
- At least 29 credit hours completed by the start of the internship.
- Familiarity with software design and development using C, C++, or Java.
- U.S. citizenship is required to access program information.
- Ability to work in collaborative, cross-domain environments.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Self-motivation and a willingness to learn new technologies.
- Bonus points for familiarity with the Agile software development cycle or prior experience with RTX.
