About the role#
This internship places you within the Advanced Performance team at Pratt & Whitney Canada. You will focus on research, modeling, and the analysis of engine performance, specifically regarding non-CO2 climate impacts. You will have access to company tools, data, and internal expertise throughout the term.
What you'll do#
- Support the evaluation of engine performance for current and future products.
- Improve and deploy aviation contrail modeling methods.
- Execute large-scale contrail simulations using high-performance computing resources.
- Contribute to an engine performance modeling framework for non-CO2 effects.
- Investigate the impacts of Sustainable Aviation Fuel and Hydrogen on engine performance.
- Run engine cycle simulations to evaluate non-CO2 metrics.
- Present findings and updates during team meetings.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Canadian university throughout the internship.
- Pursuing a degree in aerospace engineering, engineering science, applied computing, computer science, or mechanical engineering.
- Advanced Python skills, including object-oriented programming, memory optimization, and multiprocessing.
- Experience with multidisciplinary physics-based modeling and algorithm development.
- Proficiency in handling large data sets using Python, Excel, or Matlab.
- Experience working in shell or high-performance computing environments.
- Fluency in English for reading technical documentation and communicating with international colleagues.
- Ability to work on-site and eligibility to work in Canada.
Location & details#
- Location: Mississauga, Ontario.
- Term: Winter 2027 (January 5th to April 23rd).
- Modality: Full-time, on-site, Monday to Friday.
- Compensation: Paid position with a salary range of 23.10 to 33.30 CAD.
- Requirements: Successful completion of a criminal background check and controlled goods clearance is mandatory.
