About the role#
As a Civil Engineering Intern, you will work under the guidance of experienced engineers to support design and construction activities for substation and transmission projects. You will assist with site layout, grading design, stormwater analysis, and permitting support. This role is primarily office-based, with opportunities for occasional site visits.
What you'll do#
- Assist in preparing civil design drawings and specifications using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Support stormwater calculations and drainage design under supervision.
- Coordinate survey data and contribute to site layout and grading plans.
- Participate in developing cost estimates and project documentation.
- Collaborate with engineers and construction managers to ensure project goals are met.
- Perform basic research, prepare reports, and attend team meetings to learn about design-build delivery methods.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Completed coursework in civil engineering fundamentals, such as site design or hydraulics.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar software.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively and take direction from senior engineers.
