About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in a collaborative environment. You will work with experienced professionals on projects that support the delivery of water and power services. The role focuses on technical skill development and exposure to utility operations. This is a paid, full-time position for Summer 2026.
What you'll do#
- Perform voltage drop and voltage flicker calculations.
- Assist with fault current studies, cable pulling calculations, and other engineering design tasks.
- Apply internal engineering standards, design criteria, and construction practices.
- Support Distribution Design Engineers with service requests and system upgrades.
- Participate in field observations to help with design validation.
- Perform structural analysis of overhead distribution facilities and assist with ampacity studies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program for Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering at an ABET-accredited institution.
- Completion of or current enrollment in coursework related to power systems, circuits, or energy systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, MicroStation, or GIS software.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work within a team.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

- Location: Tempe, Arizona.
- Work Modality: Hybrid, with the requirement to live and work in Arizona.
- Schedule: You will work between 15 and 40 hours per week.
