About the role#
As an Engineering Intern, you will gain hands-on experience supporting substation design projects. You will work alongside engineers and designers to contribute to real-world projects, learning about physical layouts, protection and control systems, and industry standards. This role is for students pursuing degrees in electrical, mechanical, or civil engineering who want to learn more about the energy industry.
What you'll do#
- Assist in designing physical substation components, including yard layouts, grounding, and control building arrangements.
- Support the development of protection and control schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Prepare design drawings, calculations, and bills of material.
- Learn and apply engineering standards such as NEC, NESC, IEEE, and ANSI.
- Participate in quality reviews and collaborate with engineers to refine designs.
- Maintain project documentation and attend team meetings to contribute to problem-solving discussions.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Interest in learning about substation components and design principles.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently.
- Familiarity with CAD tools and engineering software is a plus.
