About the role#
The Student Operations Staff (SOS) position supports the daily functions of University Residences in Indianapolis. You will act as a primary point of contact for students, parents, and campus visitors. This role offers experience in a higher education housing environment while you help peers navigate residential life.
What you'll do#
- Provide face-to-face customer service and assist with residential facility needs.
- Help students with Wi-Fi access, door and lock issues, and maintenance requests.
- Coordinate service needs with the appropriate campus teams.
- Maintain safety standards and manage the security of keys, hall property, and safe access points.
- Handle emergency situations and prioritize tasks while maintaining professional conduct.
- Manage check-in and check-out procedures for residents and equipment.
- Report policy violations and maintain student confidentiality.
- Participate in divisional committees and present ideas to senior leadership.
- Attend all staff meetings and fulfill all scheduled shifts.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment at Purdue University or Purdue Global.
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- A customer-service mindset with a flexible and dependable approach.
- Skills in logic, reasoning, and multi-tasking under deadlines.
- High level of organization and attention to detail.
Location & details#
- Location: Indianapolis, Indiana.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Minimum of 10 hours per week, including days, weekends, evenings, overnights, and holidays.
- Requirements: Must return to campus approximately 2 weeks before the start of fall and spring semesters for training and stay through Senior Week in May.
