About the role#
As a Software Engineering Intern at Pratt & Whitney, you will join the Avionics Datalink Products team in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. You will work alongside experienced engineers to develop embedded avionics software that enables communication between aircraft, ground facilities, and air traffic controllers. This is a full-time, paid internship for the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Support the design, development, integration, and verification of embedded software for airborne Datalink products.
- Develop and modify software primarily using C and C++.
- Assist with software requirements, coding, testing, and debugging.
- Support the development of flight deck and cabin display applications.
- Create or improve software tools, scripts, and test automation to increase efficiency.
- Collaborate with software, systems, and verification engineers to investigate technical issues and implement solutions.
- Participate in engineering reviews and team meetings throughout the software development lifecycle.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related STEM discipline.
- Completion of at least 60 hours of college credit by the start of the internship.
- Experience programming in C, C++, or another object-oriented language.
- Familiarity with software development concepts like coding, debugging, testing, or design.
- Ability to work in a team and communicate technical information clearly.
- Authorization to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
