About the role#
This position supports the Exceptional Student Education (ESE) program by assisting teachers with instructional tasks, student supervision, and classroom management. You will work under the general supervision of teachers and administrators to provide consistent educational support throughout the school day.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the instructional program for ESE students.
- Reinforce instruction for individuals and small groups, including tutoring and assisting with physical therapy.
- Provide clerical support such as grading papers, taking attendance, filing, and updating student folders.
- Supervise students during meal times, field trips, special programs, and bus transitions.
- Prepare instructional materials, bulletin boards, and art projects.
- Use technology to enhance instruction and complete assigned tasks.
What you'll need#
- Graduation from an accredited high school or completion of a GED.
- Sixty or more college credit hours, an Associate's degree or higher, or a passing score on the Para Pro exam.
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- Professional communication skills and the ability to work cooperatively with staff and parents.
- Bilingual or biliterate skills are preferred.
- Interest in working with and educating exceptional children.
