About the role#
This is a paid internship opportunity for Summer 2027 based in San Diego. You will gain hands-on experience in medical device software testing, test automation, AI-driven verification technologies, and system integration. You will work within an R&D environment to support the development of healthcare solutions.
What you'll do#
- Design, develop, and enhance automated test frameworks, software tools, and AI-powered testing solutions.
- Support the development of AI agents and explore the application of Generative AI and Machine Learning for test automation.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts.
- Automate system integration and verification procedures to improve test efficiency, quality, and automation coverage.
- Execute automated test suites, analyze results, identify issues, and evaluate improvements to testing methodologies.
- Investigate and troubleshoot software, hardware, and integration issues.
- Validate defects and help expedite issue resolution across cross-functional teams.
- Set up and maintain test environments including software, hardware, and networking configurations.
- Create and execute dry-run tests on engineering builds and support early defect detection.
- Provide project updates, technical findings, and status reports to the engineering team.
What you'll need#
- At least 3 years of study towards a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with one or more programming languages such as C#.NET, Azure, TypeScript, Python, FastAPI, Java, JavaScript, Go, or React.
- Experience using source code control systems like Git or Azure DevOps and debugging techniques.
- Interest in software quality, test automation, AI technologies, and medical device development.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively and work well both independently and within cross-functional teams.
- Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with team members, stakeholders, and business partners.
