As a Teleoperation Software Engineering Intern, you will work across the hardware and software stack to build a high-fidelity, low-latency control system for a humanoid robot fleet. You will contribute to integrating firmware, backend infrastructure, retargeting, and XR interfaces to ensure fluid robot movement across various network conditions.
What you'll do#
- Help develop the primary XR application used by operators to control humanoid robots.
- Build and tune low-latency streaming protocols using Rust that function over WiFi, wired, and Bluetooth networks.
- Develop software that interfaces directly with hardware SDKs for robot sensing, motion capture, and control.
- Build frontend systems for AR devices on Android or Embedded Linux using OpenXR and frameworks like StereoKit or Unity.
- Use Python to build test harnesses and automation scripts to maintain fleet reliability.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related technical field.
- Strong fundamentals in Rust and Python, with C++ familiarity as a plus.
- A solid grasp of 3D geometry, including kinematics, and networking basics such as TCP/UDP and bandwidth optimization.
- Experience working in Linux environments and a passion for navigating complex open-source codebases.
- A demonstrated history of building projects, such as XR games, custom drones, or contributions to open-source libraries.
- Bonus points for experience with Unreal Engine, custom shader writing, GPU profiling, or build systems like Nix or Bazel.
