About the role#
Bedrock Robotics is scaling autonomous systems across construction sites nationwide. The Fleet Engineering team builds the platforms and internal tools required to provision, monitor, and maintain our growing fleet of autonomous machines. As an intern, you will design, build, and ship a critical internal tool from start to finish. You will work alongside engineering and operations teams to solve real-world problems and see how robots function in production environments.
What you'll do#
- Identify and design an internal tool to address a specific challenge in the robot lifecycle.
- Interview internal users to understand their needs and translate those pain points into technical requirements.
- Build the tool end to end, including data, backend, and interface components.
- Instrument the tool to track usage and effectiveness.
- Iterate based on direct feedback from field operators.
- Document your work and complete a hand-off process to ensure the tool remains useful after your internship.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a BS or MS in computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
- Ability to design and build full-stack software applications.
- Proficiency in at least one high-level programming language such as Python, Rust, C++, or TypeScript.
- Product sense and a preference for shipping useful solutions.
- Comfort working with ambiguity and defining your own project scope.
- Clear communication skills when working with teams outside of engineering.
- Experience with data visualization, operational dashboards, or shipping software to production is preferred.
- Exposure to fleet telemetry, IoT, robotics, or cloud infrastructure and CI/CD is a plus.
Location & details#
- Location: New York City, New York, United States.
- Modality: On-site.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Employment: Full-time, paid internship.
