About the role#
Peak Energy is seeking a Mechanical Design Intern to join the Energy Storage Systems (ESS) team. This role focuses on the mechanical design of utility-scale sodium-ion energy storage systems, supporting the development of systems and components from initial concept through to mass production.
What you'll do#
- Design module enclosures, adhesives, plastic components, high current conductors, and communications harnessing.
- Collaborate with thermal and structural analysts to inform and refine design decisions.
- Participate in rapid prototyping and testing cycles.
- Support product validation from the conceptual stage through field deployment.
- Facilitate the transition of maturing products into mass production.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Physics, or an equivalent field.
- Strong grasp of mechanical and thermal engineering fundamentals.
- Basic understanding of power electronics and electrical fundamentals.
- Familiarity with 3D CAD software, with preference for CATIA V6 or Siemens NX experience.
- Experience building prototypes.
- Familiarity with simulation or analysis tools such as MATLAB, FEA, or CFD is preferred.
