About the role#
As a Software Engineering Intern at OpenGov, you will contribute to production features used by real customers. You will work alongside full-time engineers across the full stack. This is a hands-on position where you will write code that ships to government agencies. You will gain a deeper understanding of how modern SaaS engineering teams build, test, and deliver enterprise-grade software at scale.
What you'll do#
- Build and ship features across our production codebase.
- Design, document, and implement REST API endpoints.
- Write unit and integration tests.
- Participate in code reviews.
- Collaborate with engineers during sprint planning, standups, and retrospectives.
- Investigate and resolve bugs and performance issues.
- Explore AI-assisted development tools.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as TypeScript, JavaScript, React, or Node.
- Experience building with AI-driven UX, agents, and workflow automation.
- Familiarity with front-end frameworks like Angular, React, or Redux.
- Basic experience with Git or similar version control tools.
- Personal or open-source projects.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment and solve problems.
- A self-starter mindset with curiosity.

- Compensation: $30 per hour.
