About the role#
This is an 8-month internship for the Winter 2027 term based in Toronto. You will join the Capital Markets Finance team to support performance measurement, attribution, and reporting for OMERS Capital Markets. This role involves calculating performance results, delivering insights through structured analysis, and ensuring portfolio compliance with internal and external policies.
What you'll do#
- Validate and review performance results at the business unit, strategy, and asset class levels.
- Conduct daily attribution analysis for Fixed Income to identify key drivers of investment performance.
- Investigate data quality issues and performance anomalies.
- Create Power BI dashboards and PowerPoint presentations for senior leadership.
- Lead the team's adoption of digital delivery for portfolio reporting.
- Monitor portfolio compliance against investment guidelines and regulatory policies.
- Build relationships with colleagues in Capital Markets, Risk, and Finance.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
- Contribute to team culture and department projects.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Business, Mathematics, or Engineering.
- Understanding of capital markets products, specifically fixed income securities, bonds, equities, derivatives, and alternative investments.
- Experience with SQL and Power BI for data solutions.
- Strong Excel skills and the ability to analyze large data sets.
- Interest in financial analysis and investment reporting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to identify and implement process enhancements.
- Previous experience with investment performance or risk for institutional portfolios is an asset.
