    About the role#

    The Derivative Operations team manages middle office functions for investment products, including trade capture, validation, and settlement. As a student in this role, you will support the book of record for derivative transactions and engage in the full life cycle of OTC, cleared swaps, and exchange-traded derivatives.

    What you'll do#

    • Maintain the book of record for derivative investment transactions to ensure accurate settlement, cash forecasting, and reporting.
    • Confirm and settle transactions while resolving discrepancies with traders and brokers.
    • Perform daily verifications between the book of record and trading systems.
    • Manage portfolio and market opening requests and ongoing maintenance requirements.
    • Ensure trade activity complies with regulatory requirements and ISDA/CSA agreements.
    • Execute control checks between internal records and counterparty data regarding holdings and valuations.
    • Coordinate margin movements and prepare management reports on cash flows, transaction costs, and compliance.
    • Identify and implement process improvements or automation, including developing supporting documentation.
    • Maintain knowledge of internal policies and update desk procedures.
    • Assist with audit requests and build relationships with internal teams, custodians, and auditors.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in an undergraduate Business Administration or Commerce program.
    • Demonstrated interest in derivative operations and investment accounting.
    • Experience with investment operations, including knowledge of hedge funds and derivative instruments.
    • Proficiency in Excel and Word, with experience in investment accounting systems.
    • Exposure to Bloomberg or Charles River Development is an asset.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks in a deadline-driven environment.
    • Effective interpersonal skills to communicate across the organization.
    • Ability to work independently as a self-starter.

    • Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
    • Term: Winter 2027 (4 months).
    • Modality: On-site.
    • Compensation: This is a paid position with an expected salary range of $44,850 to $56,550 per year, prorated for the contract term.
