About the role#
This position is for college students looking to gain experience in a clinical setting. You will work as a Patient Access Representative and Medical Assistant, providing direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed healthcare provider. This is a part-time role based in Baton Rouge.
What you'll do#
- Perform appointment scheduling and medical assistant functions.
- Provide individualized, direct patient care and assist in the delivery of health care services.
- Greet patients, provide customer service, and ensure all required forms are complete and accurate.
- Input patient demographic and financial information, explain insurance benefits, and collect payments.
- Take vital signs, including height and weight, and document allergy and medication history.
- Prepare patients for exams, explain procedures, and answer patient questions.
- Adapt your communication style and behavior to meet the needs of specific patient populations.
- Comply with all company policies and the Compliance and Privacy Program.
What you'll need#
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Proficiency with Windows-style applications and computer data entry.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant training program is preferred.
- Prior experience in a clinic or medical office is preferred.
- Certifications such as CHAM, CHAA, or Medical Assistant certification are preferred.
