About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role provides an overview of store, district, and regional operations while preparing you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist. You will contribute to a safe and inclusive team environment while helping patients navigate their health care needs.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team with daily operations and ensure prescriptions are filled safely and accurately.
- Follow company standard operating procedures at every workstation, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Provide caring service to patients, including offering counseling and fielding medical questions under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and clarify details with prescribers.
- Perform basic inventory tasks such as putting away deliveries, cycle counts, and returns.
- Deliver patient health care services, including immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
- Educate patients about vaccines and monitor for potential adverse reactions.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching and support to other pharmacy team members.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- At least 1 year of experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Flexibility to work in your home store and travel to other locations within the market to meet business needs.
