About the role#
NXP Semiconductors is hiring a Digital Physical Design Intern for the Winter 2027 term. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Austin, Texas. You will work alongside senior engineers to support physical design activities and contribute to project milestones.
What you'll do#
- Support layout implementation, design checks, and data preparation.
- Assist with tasks related to timing, power, quality, and rule-checking using standard engineering tools.
- Collaborate with design, verification, and methodology teams to address routine issues.
- Document design flows, project results, and technical lessons learned.
- Contribute to technical learning and structured project execution.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor or Master degree program in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a related field.
- A strong foundation in engineering fundamentals, problem solving, and technical documentation.
- Hands-on experience gained through lab work, coursework, projects, or previous internships.
- Familiarity with engineering, programming, or lab tools and a willingness to learn new methods quickly.
- Clear communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
- Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
- You must be returning to school or graduating at the conclusion of the internship term.
