About the role#
The Commercial Intern role is a summer program focused on the scrap metal recycling business. You will work with commercial teams to learn how supplier and customer relationships drive growth. The position provides exposure to scrap buying, material grades, logistics, and facility operations. You will gain a practical view of a commercial career through mentorship and field work.
What you'll do#
- Participate in daily safety meetings and uphold site standards.
- Shadow teammates during interactions with customers, suppliers, and vendors.
- Assist with market research, sales preparation, and customer follow-up.
- Learn how pricing, logistics, and material grades influence business decisions.
- Develop an understanding of the scrap recycling market through facility visits.
- Complete a summer-long business project and present your findings to leadership.
What you'll need#
- Rising junior or senior status working toward a bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Supply Chain Management, or Marketing.
- Strong organization and collaboration skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Genuine interest in relationship-driven sales and customer service.
- Willingness to travel frequently.
- Ability to work outside in an industrial environment during extreme weather.
