About the role#
The Commercial Internship Program provides a hands-on introduction to the commercial side of the scrap metal recycling business. You will work alongside teammates and leaders to build a foundation in areas like scrap buying, material grades, market trends, pricing, and logistics. This role involves field exposure, mentorship, and a project that you will present to division leadership at the end of the summer.
What you'll do#
- Participate in daily safety meetings and uphold safety, housekeeping, and operational standards.
- Shadow commercial teammates during interactions with suppliers, customers, and vendors.
- Assist with market research, prospect identification, customer follow-up, and sales preparation.
- Develop an understanding of the scrap recycling market through facility exposure, customer visits, and mentor shadowing.
- Complete a summer-long business project and present recommendations to division leadership.
What you'll need#
- Rising junior or senior status working toward a bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, Economics, Finance, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- Strong organization, adaptability, team-orientation, and collaboration skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Genuine interest in relationship-driven sales, customer service, market analysis, and the recycling industry.
- Reliable transportation.
- Willingness to travel frequently and work outside in extreme weather conditions within an industrial environment.
- Willingness to relocate after graduation.
