About the role#
NJM Insurance Group is hiring a Commercial Lines Underwriting Intern for the summer of 2027. This is a paid, full-time, on-site position based in our West Trenton, New Jersey office. You will work directly with our Underwriting team to support business projects, contribute to strategic goals, and gain hands-on experience in the insurance industry.
What you'll do#
- Process pricing analysis for large Commercial Lines policies for upcoming renewals.
- Attend policy renewal meetings and help determine pricing based on risk performance.
- Assist underwriters by gathering information for new business submissions, including conducting research and pulling reports.
- Monitor adverse experience and assigned risk favorable reports to identify necessary actions.
- Participate in weekly Underwriting meetings.
- Support process improvement initiatives and ad-hoc projects as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a sophomore in a four-year bachelor’s degree program for Risk Management and Insurance or Business Administration.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Proficiency with MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Strong analytical, verbal, and communication skills.
- A demonstrated ability to take initiative and manage multiple priorities.
Location & details#
- This role is located in Trenton, New Jersey.
- You must be able to commute to our West Trenton office.
- This is a full-time internship for the summer of 2027.
- The starting rate is $21 per hour, with the potential to pay up to $22 per hour.
